GOXI Pays ₦160.65m Claims in Seven Months, Reaffirms Support for Low-Income Nigerians

GOXI Microinsurance Company Limited paid ₦160.65 million in insurance claims between January and July 2026, providing financial support to individuals, families and small businesses affected by unexpected losses.

The company said the payments demonstrate its commitment to settling genuine claims promptly and providing policyholders with financial relief when they need it most.

The latest figure adds to more than ₦821 million in claims GOXI said it had previously paid to traders, low-income households and small business owners over six years.

Shina Gbadegesin, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, GOXI Microinsurance, said claims settlement remains central to the company’s mission of protecting vulnerable Nigerians from financial shocks.

“The true value of insurance is demonstrated when a policyholder suffers a loss and receives the financial support required to recover,” he said.

Gbadegesin said the company understands that customers depend on insurance protection during difficult periods.

“The ₦160.65 million paid in claims between January and July 2026 reflects our commitment to honouring our promises and providing timely relief to our policyholders,” he added.

He said GOXI would continue to focus on making insurance affordable and accessible to individuals, families and small businesses.

Beyond claims payments, the company has also expanded its corporate social responsibility activities, with programmes covering environmental sustainability, women’s empowerment and support for vulnerable groups.

As part of activities marking World Environment Day 2026, GOXI carried out an environmental clean-up and waste-management awareness campaign at Alade Market in Ikeja, Lagos.

The initiative brought together employees, traders and other members of the community to promote responsible waste disposal and improve environmental cleanliness within the market.

In March, the company also marked International Women’s Day by visiting three female clients and presenting them with gift items.

GOXI said the initiative recognised the contribution of women to families, businesses and economic development, while supporting its focus on gender inclusion and empowerment.

The company had earlier extended its community support to the Modupe Cole Memorial Child Care and Treatment Home in Akoka, Lagos, in October 2025.

During the visit, GOXI supported children and other vulnerable individuals through donations and direct engagement with the institution.

Gbadegesin said the company’s community initiatives complement its core insurance business.

“For us, microinsurance and corporate social responsibility are connected by one purpose—protecting people and strengthening communities,” he said.

He added that while claims payments help customers recover from financial losses, the company’s wider initiatives address social and environmental needs within communities.

“We remain committed to creating meaningful and sustainable value for our customers, communities and other stakeholders,” Gbadegesin said.

GOXI said its activities have also helped strengthen relationships with host communities, improve employee engagement and build stakeholder confidence.

The company said it would continue to combine affordable insurance solutions with corporate responsibility as part of its contribution to financial inclusion and sustainable development in Nigeria.

GOXI Microinsurance Company Limited is a licensed stand-alone microinsurance company in Nigeria, offering life and non-life microinsurance solutions to low-income individuals, households, microenterprises and small businesses.

Its products are designed to provide financial protection against unexpected events and help policyholders recover and rebuild their livelihoods.
