HBM Nigeria Plc, formerly known as Lafarge Africa Plc, has said its new corporate identity marks the beginning of a new phase in the company’s growth and reinforces its commitment to supporting Nigeria’s infrastructure development.
The company made this known during a media briefing held in Lagos, where its Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Lolu Alade-Akinyemi, said the change follows the acquisition of a controlling stake in the company by Huaxin Building Materials Group.
According to him, the new identity reflects a renewed focus on operational excellence, sustainability, innovation, digital transformation and stronger collaboration across the business.
Alade-Akinyemi said the company has operated in Nigeria for more than 60 years and remains committed to providing quality building materials through its cement, aggregates and ready-mix concrete businesses.
He added that the company will continue to support housing delivery, urban development, industrial growth and major infrastructure projects across the country.
The managing director also disclosed that the recent expansion of the company’s Sagamu and Ashaka cement plants would increase production capacity and improve product availability across key markets.
He said the Sagamu plant now has an additional production capacity of two million metric tonnes per annum, while the Ashaka plant has added 3.5 million metric tonnes per annum.
Despite the change in name, Alade-Akinyemi assured customers, shareholders and other stakeholders that the company’s values and commitment to quality service remain unchanged.
“We are the same trusted organisation, now operating under a new identity that reflects our aspirations for the future,” he said.
Also speaking, the Director of Communications, Public Affairs and Sustainable Development, HBM Nigeria Plc, Viola Graham-Douglas, said the transition reflects the company’s new ownership under Huaxin Building Materials Group and supports its long-term strategy for expansion and market leadership.
She said the new corporate identity positions the company for sustainable growth while strengthening its contribution to Nigeria’s infrastructure and economic development.
The media briefing also provided stakeholders with further information on the transition to HBM Nigeria Plc and reaffirmed the company’s commitment to delivering innovative building solutions and supporting the country’s long-term development.
